Today’s shoutout goes out to #Sharkies Seafood Restaurant, a dining experience we highly recommend when visiting Jamaica. The owner Alwyn Brown is an alum from my alma mater #YorkCastle and a supporter of team #iLoveBeingCaribbean. We’ve been following the restaurant on social media and wanted to check it out during our time in Saint Ann. We arrived to the restaurant which is in an ideal location, beach-front in Runaway Bay. I had barely parked the car before wifey began snapping pictures of the view. We entered the open air restaurant, took in the beach breeze and were seated just as the sun began to set. My bride quickly ordered a rum punch and quickly sent it back after the first sip...she doesn’t play with her rum! Luckily, the waitress only heard punch and not rum and the issue was quickly resolved after a good laugh and a heavy pour. We poured over the menu for a few minutes and promptly decided on peppered shrimp as no trip to Jamaica is complete without it! We then ordered for the soup of the day, conch soup, which was just as tasty. For the main course, we do what we often do and “team-ordered” escovitch fish and brown stew fish to get a taste of both of our favourite styles. The sides were green plantains, fried bammy, rice & peas and salad. The escovitch fish was simply amazing...literally no complaints whatsoever! Just the right spices and heat. The brown stew fish was different than what we typically prefer, but not bad still...clearly as there was no flesh left behind! We ordered another round of drinks after dinner and sat back while we enjoyed the vibes. The subsequent drinks were good and strong, the wait staff polite and professional, the music was lively and the atmosphere was awesome. Even with the heavy rain and mosquitos (they were loving us that night!), we still greatly enjoyed our time at #Sharkies! . An amazing view, easy vibes, tasty food, welcoming atmosphere and kind service, all make for a good reason to return to and recommend #SharkiesSeafoodRestaurant located on the beach of Salem, in Runaway Bay.
