#Jamaican Callaloo Dish vs #Trinidadian Callaloo Dish!!
Both extremely delicious but do you know the difference?
- Jamaica 🇯🇲:: #Callaloo is a leafy green vegetable that resembles spinach with a totally different taste. The biological term is Amaranth plant and It is the edible leaves with a few pieces of the stem that's consumed. In Jamaica the plant itself is known as callaloo and it's prepared in various forms highlighting its uniqueness. #JamaicanCallaloo consists of the callaloo plant chopped, onions, bell peppers, scotch bonnet peppers, thyme, black pepper and salt.
- Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹:: Callaloo is a dish that "DOES NOT" include the callaloo plant itself. Instead #TrinidadianCallaloo is a type of soup or side-dish made with a concoction of dasheen leaves, okra, crab, salt meat, onions, pimento peppers, scotch bonnet peppers, green onions & thyme, all cooked in fresh coconut milk.
THE ONLY THING THESE DISHES HAVE IN COMMON IS THEIR NAME...
